Let the fragrance lie down in ash.
Most incense holders work the same way: a small hole, a stick pressed upright, and a wait for it to burn all the way down. But we could never quite settle into that — the way it never burns fully to the end, the way ash quietly piles up until someone has to deal with it.
So we arrived at a different gesture: laying the incense stick gently across a bed of censer ash. Buried within the ash, it keeps burning steadily until nothing is left — no leftover stub, no ash pile to clear away afterward.
Note: this piece is designed to be used lying flat. Standing incense upright echoes Buddhist ritual practice, so please enjoy it only in its intended, reclining form.
Each plate is sourced from Shussai-gama, no two glazes quite alike. It's a new expression of CALFKO.'s "15 Minutes of Sanctuary" — the quiet ritual that marks the turn from morning, to day, to night.
A dedicated ash-leveling tool is planned to join this set soon — turning the ritual into something more than lighting incense. A new-era practice that begins with smoothing the ash itself.
